Ideas for saying thank you

5/30/2017

The end of the year is quickly approaching and your students are packing and preparing to head home. Their host families and schools have formed their community for the past year of their lives, so what’s the best way to end it on a high note?

A heartfelt and sincere “thank you” always makes a great impact, and here are some ideas for your students to show their appreciation.

For their schools: Have your students had a teacher, coach, or administrator that they’ve formed a relationship with. Handwriting a note for them about what they’ve learned or their year is a simple way to show thanks, as is gifting a photo of an event you’ve been a part of.

For their host families: Many of our families choose to host international students as a way to learn about another culture. If your student has a favorite dish from their home country, preparing it for his or her host family is a great idea. A small photo album of their time together is also an ideal way for the host family to remember their student. Host families and their students often form a strong bond, and though goodbyes can be difficult, keeping a positive attitude is the best way to move forward.
