 Local Coordinator Jan Ligman has been working with CIEE for five years and in that time has supervised dozens of CIEE High School USA students. Living in the Coachella Valley, California, Jan works with students attending Palm Valley School and Desert Sands Unified School District.
Jan first decided to become a Local Coordinator after she and her husband hosted several international college students and enjoyed learning about them and their countries. In her work outside of CIEE, Jan is an elementary school teacher and has been working with children for over 30 years. She has her Master’s degree in education. Throughout the year Jan supports her students at their various athletic and extracurricular events and always looks for the best in the students she supervises.
 Lisa, with one of her daughters and student! Lisa Delong is an LC in the Palm Beach, FL area . In her five years with CIEE, she has supervised and/or hosted over 50 students.
Students that come to Palm Beach form a tight group from day one, which Lisa encourages by organizing activities and outings for the group as often as possible. Lisa "genuinely loves how students form friendships and bonds with each other. They make up a really great group." Over the years, Lisa has seen her many students grow, embrace their surroundings, and thrive academically. At the same time, Lisa's husband and two young daughters developed an interest in foreign languages and international travel because of all the wonderful exchange students they've come to know and love. The Delongs are excited to welcome you to their community and incorporate you into their close-knit group of students and families!  Jennifer Kennedy, LC Jennifer Kennedy is based in Portland, Maine and has been with CIEE for 7 years. Her warm smile, friendly demeanor, and heart of gold endear her to students and host families right away.
As evidenced in Jen’s monthly supervision reports, she is deeply invested in the success and well-being of each of her students. Jen provides many details about the student’s experience. In the event that something is not going as planned, Jen is quick to offer a solution, mediate and advocate as necessary. A former United States Marine, Jen remains calm and measured in stressful situations. Over the years when faced with a student or host family challenge, she has risen to the occasion and handled the situation with kindness and empathy.
